Volunteer with Wave
Wave volunteers play a vital role in supporting young people on Hayling Island. By giving a little of your time, you can help create a safe, welcoming space where young people feel supported, included, and able to be themselves.
Why volunteer at Wave
Volunteering at Wave is a chance to make a real difference in the local community. Our volunteers play an important role in supporting young people on Hayling Island by helping to create a safe, welcoming space where they can relax, socialise and feel supported.
As a Wave volunteer, you’ll be part of a friendly and supportive team who care deeply about the wellbeing of young people. Whether you’re helping during youth sessions, supporting creative activities or simply being a familiar face each week, your time and presence help young people build confidence and feel a sense of belonging.
Many volunteers find the experience rewarding, enjoyable and a great way to give something back locally, while meeting new people and being part of a positive community project.
What volunteering involves
Volunteering at Wave is flexible and designed to fit around your availability. Volunteers help create a safe, welcoming environment for young people during sessions and events.
Support youth sessions
Be a friendly, approachable presence during weekly youth sessions and help young people feel welcome and included.
Activities and events
Get involved with games, creative activities and events such as Wave Festival, helping young people join in at their own pace.
Flexible commitment
Give as much or as little time as you’re able. There is no long-term commitment required and no previous experience needed.
Training, safety and support every step of the way
All Wave volunteers are supported to feel confident in their role. Volunteers complete enhanced DBS checks and receive safeguarding, first aid and fire safety training to ensure a safe and secure environment for young people.
You’ll be part of a supportive team, with guidance and ongoing support from experienced staff throughout your time at Wave.
